
Ronald Haggerty, M.D.
Dr. Haggerty was born and raised in Michigan and graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiology from Michigan State University. He attended Wayne State University School of Medicine and went on to residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA in 1995. He became board certified in 1998. While still on active duty, he was a member of Fleet Surgical Team Six and deployed on the USS Kearsarge to the Mediterranean Sea. Upon completion of his six years with the Navy, Dr. Haggerty went into private practice in Chesapeake, VA. In 2004, he moved to Gloucester to join Internal Medicine Associates and was in practice for just over two years before starting the Hospitalist program at Riverside Walter Reed.
From 2006 to 2011, he served as the Hospitalist Medical Director while also serving as Medical Director of the Riverside Walter Reed Hospice program from 2005 to 2014. He started Direct Access in 2011 with a goal of providing exceptional medical care with a focus on time, access, and attention to detail. Dr. Haggerty lives in Gloucester with his wife Kacki and they have two adult children. He enjoys boating, golf, Michigan State sports and most importantly, practicing his Catholic faith.

Blair Nein
Nurse Practitioner
Blair Nein, MSN, AGPCNP-BC is a born and raised local of King and Queen County, VA. She earned her Bachelor’s of Nursing and Bachelor’s of Health Care Administration from James Madison University and started her registered nursing career at VCU Health on the Evans Haynes Burn Unit in Richmond, VA. While still working full time on the burn unit she graduated with a Master’s of Nursing from the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program at Virginia Commonwealth University. Blair has a special interest in geriatrics as she finds those individuals to be inspiring; admiring their wisdom and life perspective. She cherishes the relationships she builds with her patients and has a deep desire to serve her community. She currently lives in West Point, VA with her husband. Her hobbies include fitness, nutrition, boating, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

Katherine Haggerty
Nurse Practitioner
Kacki is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the MCV School of Nursing in 1995 and began her career as a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, later becoming a Nursing Supervisor. In 2001, she returned to MCV where she completed her Master’s degree in Nursing. Her first position as a Nurse Practitioner was with Internal Medicine Associates of Gloucester before accepting the Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner position at Walter Reed Hospital. Born and raised in King and Queen County, Kacki continues to serve the Middle Peninsula both at DAIM and as a hospitalist Nurse Practitioner at Riverside Walter Reed. She enjoys, more than anything, working with her patients – many of whom she has known for most of her life.

Lauri LeBel
Nurse Practitioner
Lauri is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s degree as well as her Master’s degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. Lauri joined Direct Access in 2015.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked as an RN in critical care. She has been working as a nurse practitioner for over 25 years, working primarily in family practice, and a short time in orthopedics. Lauri lives in Gloucester with her husband Pete where they raised their three children. She enjoys going to her children’s sporting events, as well as boating and other outdoor activities.

Brad Skelding
MSW, LCSW
Brad has been in the helping profession for over twenty years. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, he provides therapy for emotional health issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief, crisis, life changes, life decisions, and much more. His approach is Cognitive Behavioral but simply put, he is a talking therapist. He applies a commonsense, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, focusing on the goal of problem-solving and change first. Then he works on understanding the dynamics contributing to the problem, so it does not repeat itself.
Brad has worked across the continuum of healthcare including hospital-based programs, out-patient services, private industry, and private practice. He has specialized in the last 15 years integrating emotional health services into medical practices.
Brad graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a Minor in Psychology. He received his Master’s Degree in Social Work with a specialization in Mental Health from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is licensed to practice by the Virginia State Board of Health. Brad lives in Gloucester with his wife Victoria. They have 4 children and one grandchild.
